My Story

Counselor for Families, Parents & Children | Family Mental Health &
Parenting Coach | Education Consultant & Corporate Wellness Programs | Attorney | Mother of 3

Hello! I'm Heide Cheuk, founder of LuminaMinds, a counselor, family mental health specialist and parenting coach based in Hong Kong. I work with children, teens, parents and families in both private practice and international school settings, using evidence-based approaches including mindfulness-based CBT, family therapy and play therapy to strengthen emotional wellbeing, resilience and family connection.

With multicultural roots in Hong Kong and experience living across Canada, the USA and the UK, I bring a global yet deeply local perspective to family mental health in one of the world's most fast-paced cities.

My path to this work began in law. After completing an LLB at Durham University and an LLM at Duke University, I spent over a decade practising environmental and commercial law before retraining in counselling and mental health. That background gives me a grounded, real-world understanding of the pressures facing high-achieving professionals and working parents, and an intimate knowledge of what it means to balance a demanding career with family life.

This personal and professional journey inspired LuminaMinds, where I offer individual therapy, family work, parent coaching and group programs designed to create lasting positive change.

I am a regular speaker and workshop facilitator at international schools across Hong Kong, delivering popular series on mindful parenting, managing big emotions, resilience, digital wellbeing, bullying and navigating academic pressure. Through LuminaMinds' Positive Parenting and resilience programs, I support parents to lower anxiety and stress, break intergenerational cycles and strengthen connection with their children.

I also deliver professional development training for educators, covering emotional regulation, mindfulness in the classroom, and decoding and responding to challenging behaviour in children, equipping teachers with practical, evidence-based mental health tools they can use every day.

Beyond schools and clinical practice, I partner with organisations on workplace wellness, delivering evidence-based programs on resilience, stress and burnout prevention, emotional regulation and the unique pressures faced by working parents in high-demand careers.

My approach blends rigorous clinical training with lived experience as a mother of three, and my mission is always the same: to offer practical, compassionate tools that create lasting positive change for families, schools and workplaces.
